Christmas Midnight Delirium is just the book of poetry for anyone who has experienced the act of love, and more importantly been burned by the effects of it. So many intoxicating words that leave you with a feeling of such empowerment that you crave more page after page. For a new and upcoming writer Courtney Blackstone definitely knows her craft and this book was completely enjoyable. I can't wait for any future books by her to be released.

The cover art vibrantly translate into her own mind. From her words brutally typed onto paper, to your own mind's eye, her pieces are coherent to paint and image, yet leave much to the reader's interpretation. Much kudos to the text and her as a human being. Look forward into her upcoming chapbook as well!

I want you to get my message ... And I want these words to shine a light. A Journey Through My Soul is a collection of one passionate, thoughtful, lyrical young woman's path from early adolescence to the present day. Many of the poems reflect her teenage years, giving wonderful insight about the wonder and wisdom of emerging maturity, with experiences ranging from the ecstatic thrill of first love and crushes, the deep comfort and bonding of true friendship, and the heartbreak of learning to deal with betrayal and the end of relationships. You will be carried along on an expanding world view that includes the quiet despair of longing for loved ones stationed overseas, the joys and fears of motherhood, and the multifaceted discovery of true and lasting love. These poems reflect experience that is both universal and unique, illuminated by a personal voice and sensitivity that allow the reader both a sense of community, and a glimpse into something beyond the everyday. Moving, inspiring, and honest, A Journey Through My Soul is a perfect companion for every life path.

I finished this in one sitting and I'm glad that I was able to experience such thoughtful and sensible verses.I admire how the author was able to write poems based on her personal experiences. I love reading poems, although I am not an expert of it. I don't even know how to construct one (I tried years ago and that was when my high school teacher assigned us to write one. lol but it was lame), so reading the series of poems written here kind of dazzled me because wow, they're created in a very delectable way. I have plenty of favorite poems in this book and one of them is from chapter 1 called Crying Soul which was written to inspire fiction lovers like me. It's a very heartbreaking story and it ended in tragedy, but the thing that made me like it was the life lesson it instilled.Another favorite of mine is the poem called Our Anniversary which was dedicated by the author to her husband. The prose simply made me fall in love because of how sweet it sounds. To give you a glimpse:"And if you ever wonderWhy I love you soJust look into my eyesAnd then, you'll really knowI've loved you since I can rememberOr at least for a very long timeI'm so glad that we're togetherAnd that I can call you mineThe day we met was a special dayAbout that, I have no doubtBecause I met the love of my lifeAnd that's what life's all about"Overall, A Journey Through My Soul is a sweet, inspiring collection of poems. It's a great read for people who are soul-searching and who just simply love to devour poems.

How much thought have you given to whether there is life after death? Some religions, like Christianity and Hinduism, posit the existence of heaven and reincarnation, while others are silent on the question. Those not guided by faith are inclined to relegate this haunting mystery to the outermost margins of their lives. In these pages, contributors from around the world have trained their poetic eye on this all-important quest. Relying on the power of intuition and creative imagination, the poets in this collection give us a glimpse into the great mystery of life after death. Suspend your skeptical mind and accompany the poets here on the adventure into the afterlife; you may not only be surprised, but forever changed. ... fragrant wind / my mother's voice calls / from beyond ~ Roberta Beary ... a deceased friend / taps me on the shoulder -- / plum blossoms falling ~ Chen-ou Liu ... "In this collection, poets share brilliant and moving glimpses of immortality and continuous renewal. To read these poems, therefore, is to accept death as the watermark on every one of life's pages. It is to feel at home in the vastness of existence." ~ Sheila Bender, Author of A New Theology: Turning to Poetry in a Time of Grief, and Founder of www.writingitreal.com ... "Epstein’s collection is a treasure pot of tiny jewels. Because haiku conveys experiences of the ineffable, it is perhaps the best vehicle for transmitting the impact of encounters with the mysteries that lie beyond the grave." ~ Julia Assante, Author of The Last Frontier: Exploring the Afterlife and Transforming Our Fear of Death

One poem gave many of her readers the courage to tell others of their own abuse for the first time. She writes of her eating disorder that lasted over twenty-eight years as well as the peace she found through spirituality. From depression to healing, her words will touch you.In 2006, Debra's only brother died; followed by her father eighteen months later. The things I write, what's on my mind, The Holy Spirit talks, and I give him time. The things I wrote was the way I feel. At that particular time, it was all for real. My first poem was about he had nothing to do, Kids in Joliet prison, and they didn't have a clue. Life should be about trying to do better. I started out with Ruthie from the first day I met her. I went to Africa, and it was supposed to be a thrill, But the poverty I saw, not in books, it was all for real. A couple of my poems came with a beat. I rapped for Rl Manaway, and he couldn't stay in his seat. I've written poems at funerals and really felt alone. Love ones and friends, I looked around and they were gone. Some are a joke just to see you smile. To see people happy, I'll walk a mile. Others, about my youth, and there's quite a few. I'm sure you will agree that's my point of view. All my writings, some people say they're fine, The things the Holy Spirit says, what's on my mind.
