A little different than I expected in that it wasn't just a book of poetry, it was a walk through an intimate part of the author's life. I so enjoyed this unexpected twist! Various styles of poetry along with the background in short story format provided a nice blend of styles and kept me reading and wanting more! Definitely a book that you will read from cover to cover!

Growing up with Ms. Gaines, I would have never known some of the things she wrote about in this book if she hadn't testified about them. Thanks for sharing your story with us, and I hope it encourages others that no matter what, we have to stay the course, keep pushing and have Faith and Believe that Our Lord God will do just what he says he will do.
