The book is written in sections - and I especially loved the one dedicated to our veterans. If you love America and feel a bit of concern about where we are headed, this book is an inspiration for so many reasons. The love of country, love of those who fight for us, and the love of our creator -- and a strong desire to get our country back on the right path -- all of these themes are written about with a passion and devotion. One of my favorites is "Old Glory" -- because the flag of the United States of America is near and dear to my heart. Thank you, R. d. Preston for writing poetry that expresses many of my own feelings.

It is only through the eyes of a Cowboy that one can feel such love & devotion for our country By Frank Scozzari PATRIOT COWBOY is an inspiring and heartfelt gathering of words, strung together in a way that creates emotion and patriotism.This is the second collection of poetry I've read by R.d. Preston, and I'll have to say I am beyond impressed with his work. Here in prose, Nationalism is restored. It is only through the eyes of a Cowboy that one can feel such love & devotion for our country, and only through the eyes of a poet can it be said so beautifully. R.d. Preston is truly a poet laureate in this genre.

Davenport I am not a poet, nor would I describe myself as being totally aligned with the political beliefs of the author, but I did find this work moving. I look forward to more from this author and their unique perspective on American culture, (which frankly is a nice change from most of the poetry I've read).I did find some of the poems to be too vague when discussing their theme in the first part of the book, (which is helpfully indicated in the excellent title choices). So I was thinking 4 out of 5, (more on personal preference than actual quality of the work), but I got to thinking the other reviewers have a point - the purpose of poetry is that it moves you, and most of all, that it has the power to move ordinary people to experience extraordinary things. Love of country, love of God, frustration, despair, hope, honor, and loyalty are just words. Yet when framed within the poems in this anthology they become something much greater and more profound. Definitely worth a read.
