Great collection around everyday feelings, a must read By Avic The book is an unbelievable collection around common feelings that all of us bear in our everyday life - all put down in beautiful poetry. Not just about love and family, but also about some of the happenings around the world today - whether the killings in the mid-east or the tragedy of earthquakes, the author has a great way with words.

There is an honesty and sincerity in his poems that is moving. Easy to read yet moving at the same time. Playful yet thought provoking at the same time. Some poems make me think of my life and others are just nice to read. I have really enjoyed this book and keep thinking about the poems long after I put the book down.

Julius Caesar is a tragedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written in 1599. It portrays the conspiracy against the Roman dictator of the same name, his assassination and its aftermath. It is one of several Roman plays that he wrote, based on true events from Roman history, which also include Coriolanus and Antony and Cleopatra. Although the title of the play is Julius Caesar, Caesar is not the central character in its action; he appears in only three scenes, and is killed at the beginning of the third act. The protagonist of the play is Marcus Brutus, and the central psychological drama is his struggle between the conflicting demands of honour, patriotism, and friendship.

Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare

From School Library Journal Grade 5-8-One of the marks of Shakespeare's greatness is the continued interest in adapting his enduring works. This recording of Julius Caesar is one in a series drawn from Leon Garfield's Shakespeare Stories. Liberally sprinkled with lines from the original play, the recording presents a condensation of all five acts in a little more than an hour. Beginning with a brief biography of the Bard, the recording then offers a thorough but not lengthy overview of the play. All this sets the stage for Simon Russell Beale's well paced narration. This Royal Shakespeare Company veteran moves so skillfully between story text and dialogue that at times it seems as though there are several actors reading. Classic lines such as "Et tu. Brute" and "Friends, Romans, Countrymen " are rendered with fresh vigor. At the conclusion of the play, an article on "Shakespeare Today" offers suggestions to help youngsters have fun with Shakespeare. Short selections of period music make a nice transition between sections of the recording. Though aimed at a middle school audience, both teens and adults will find this presentation a good way to learn about one of the earliest plays performed at the Globe Theatre.Barbara Wysocki, Cora J. Belden Library, Rocky Hill, CT Copyright 1999 Reed Business Information, Inc.

Review Praise for William Shakespeare: Complete Works“Remarkable . . . makes Shakespeare’s extraordinary accomplishment more vivid than ever.”—James Shapiro, professor, Columbia University, bestselling author of A Year in the Life of Shakespeare: 1599 “A feast of literary and historical information.”—The Wall Street Journal

Thornton As an older adult that is somewhat isolated I started the study of Shakespeare on my own with just a big book that had annotaions that were often more cofusing than enlightening. It was rewarding but it was like plowing through a field full of big rocks. I found reading two or three scenes of an act with No Fear Shakespeare and then reading the corresponding section of Asimov's Guide to Shakespeare great fun. No Fear explains the nuances of language and setting while Asimov gives rich insight to the characters and events that makes it so easy to remember the varied characters and plot twists.I found this method makes Shakespeare infinitely more easy to not only get through but savor and enjoy. My plan is to get as much of No Fear Shakespeare as I can including all the plays that I have gone through so laboriously in the past and apply the No Fear/Asimov technique. I hope it works as well for you as it did for me.

Though it is a popular television and movie theme, we know it in large part due to Julius Caesar, William Shakespeare's famed play. It includes moving scenes such as Caesar's infamous "Et tu Brute", and Marc Antony's moving "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears." This book, put together by Folger Shakespeare Library, helps to bring this story to life. This book, about 239 pages total, features "explanatory notes conveniently placed on pages facing the text of the play." While these notes may not answer every question you might come up with, I believe they are very helpful to the average reader (such as myself). These pages also provide plenty of room for anyone who prefers to annotate, or write down thoughts, in their books. Also featured on these pages is a scene summary for every scene. The scene summaries really helped me truly understand the Shakespearian language. I am very grateful I ordered this copy of Julius Caesar, since it has the tools necessary for the average reader to fully grasp what is happening. I picked it up right here on Amazon.com. I can hardly find negative aspects to this edition. The best I can come up with is that the words and phrases noted are not already underlined or marked somehow by the publisher. (I know, not a big deal.) The story is great, a must-read for all history buffs or even the casual reader. All-in-all, if you are looking to read Julius Caesar, or just some Shakespeare to impress your friends or teachers with, check out the Folger Shakespeare Library's edition of Julius Caesar. I highly recommend it. So, what are you waiting on? Get to it!

The books are divided into three sections: the first section is a kind of history of Shakespeare and his plays, the second section is the actual play, and the third section is more of the details of the play,i.e. where the story came from, how it is performed, how to directed the play. All in all it was a great for teaching the works of Shakespeare.

By Samantha Roberts Deep, dark, lonely, shady, wicked, heart breaking, depressed, lack of self confidence and the feeling of unloved are best way to describe some of the poems in this book. Ever wonder how a depressed and lonely person think? Well I guess what better way to do is to read this book. You can feel the loneliness of a person with this book, very touching, sensitive and tragic. A great reference if you want to know what and how they are and what runs through their mind.

The characters in the book seem to have problems, the little happiness that comes out of them quickly fades away quickly. The person seems to feel unloved, depressed and alone. If your looking for something to make you happy then this is not it, unless you are an emo, goth like to read some dark. The poems give an insight into the mind of someone who is just pouring their heart out about their dismal situation

ANOTHER NEW BEGINNING is a collection of seventy free-association poems based on Renshi, a Japanese form of poetry. "Ren" refers to connecting or linking. To link each thought, the final words of one poem are used to form the title of the next. Then a shift occurs to address another topic, idea, or event. While these poems do not strictly follow the rules of Renshi, they do contain its spirit. After 70 years on God's green earth, author Gail Baugniet learned to float on the trade winds, allowing happiness to seep into the many crevices of her life. Open to whatever comes each day, she enjoys life more now than at any other time since her birth. Gail wrote these poems to share the pleasantness afforded to her in this life. Not all the poems are about happiness, but each was written from a place of joy and peace.

Review The book lends itself , naturally, to study group discussion and analysis. I have personally discussed selected poems with different people and find that there are infinite ways to interpret the authors intent. Each reader puts a personal spin on interpretation. It was truly an illuminating experience.I appreciate the skill and craftsmanship invested in producing this manuscript. It is certainly a gratifying way to package a lifetime of experiences.                                                                            Excerpt from review by Marian B. Sides

From the Author Each Sunday, on my blog site gail-baugniet.blogspot.com I post one poem from the book (in order of print) and include an essay commenting on the poem's content or a thought generated while reading the completed poem.Writing linked poetry was a unique experience for me. Creating a title from one poem to begin the next poem was comparable to playing an extended word game. Then, as each new title was created, the succeeding poem flowed from my fingers, through the keyboard, and onto the document. My memories supplied the emotional content for ANOTHER NEW BEGINNING. Often, on rereading the words, my impression was of reading someone else's work. The content only slowly revealed itself to me as my own.The project of writing these 70 poems brought home to me a fuller meaning of "stream of consciousness" or in this case, maybe "stream of sub-consciousness."

Sides ANOTHER NEW BEGINNINGI read this book of poetry many times and each time I discovered new insights. It was entertaining, challenging and thought provoking. If you like poetry, you will appreciate the creativity and critical thought required to adapt the Japanese model of linked poetry to life experiences. This is not easy.I am fascinated by the authors skill, discipline and dedication to clarity and perfection in replicating this form of linkage. In today's world, there is an emphasis put on differences. It has reached the point that the phrase 'universally shared experience' sounds like an oxymoron. But truthfully, there are many experiences and qualities common among humans, namely our ability to create: both abstractly through symbolic language, and concretely through the dexterity of our hands and fingers. In ‘A Two Sided Truth’, a young college student exercises his ability of creative expression to produce a poetic perspective of the modern day world. He addresses the broad themes of life such as nature and self, as well as more novel ideals such as being a youth in today’s society. Ultimately, his quest is to uncover truth. But this noble endeavor lands him in an unknown place where truth isn’t singular. His writings attempt to define the elusive two sides of “truth”.
