Picture Perfect is a statement about how we think life will turn out for us. Our life is viewed and judged as we go throughout the day and we hope that our spec of life is perfect. But in reality, it never will be 100% perfect. As human beings, we learn to accept and appreciate our distorted view of perfection. This collection of poems are inspired by the culmination of life experiences. They are available to help you with your journeys, new transitions, love issues, self-identity issues, and other surprises life has to offer. This book will give you reassurance that you are not on this journey alone. These words are not thoughts, they are experiences that will guide you through your own life's journey.

From the wild: A collection of original poems, by Mary Ann Archibald

Review "A gorgeous collection of thought and memory provoking pieces." "Some of the best poetry I have read. It seems, in my mind, that these poems collect the pieces of emotions she felt about the subject enabling the reader to instantly smell, feel, and almost touch her thoughts." "They're very down to earth and based on the poet's more 'every day experiences'. You get a sense of the type of person she is by reading them ... There's a good evocation from the use of imagery and sentiment. They're worth adding to your kindle." "A quick and enjoyable read!" "Far under-priced, these poems are evocative of warm personal moments and elements of life worth the silence and attention to appreciate. Appreciation is the feeling one is left with after a visit to this world of Mary Ann's. And, for those without one; of home." "An enjoyable, pithy read. "Your words awaken the senses and made this reader feel very alive. It was almost as though I was in the moment with you." "Some of those images really stick with you." "I was touched by your poem Fudge. It evoked memories and smells of my mom who passed away last year. I usually don't "get" poetry but the last two lines are most moving."

About the Author Mary Ann Archibald is published in radio, television, newspapers, magazines and online publications including, The Chronicle-Herald, Outdoors Canada Magazine, Field & Stream, Truro Magazine, CBC Radio, Women's Television Network, Central Nova Business News, The Tatamagouche Light, Farm Focus of Atlantic Canada and more. Archibald's portraits, still life and landscape paintings are valued for their expressive, painterly and often lyrical qualities. She especially enjoys painting people and things from life and plein air landscapes. Her artwork is held in private collections throughout North America and Europe and in public collections with the province of Nova Scotia, Canada.

Read Online Ebook Blended Reality: Poems and Thoughts for Stepmoms, Blended Families, and the People that Support Us, by Michaele-Lynne Jacot

Michaele-Lynne Jacot had never given a thought to writing a book, however, she had been inspired to write and journal more now that she was part of a blended family. The poems came together quickly, and she soon decided to attend a book publishing class. Miss Jacot hopes to touch stepmoms and other women all over the country (and maybe the world!), who experience the day to day happenings of blended family life. Perhaps it will also catch the eyes of someone like Ellen (who would be great for publicity!)! The poems are in print as they were written chronologically and it is quite possible there will be more books in the future! It is truly hoped that these poems bring you joy, comfort, and a sense of knowing that you are not alone on this journey!

Blended Reality: Poems and Thoughts for Stepmoms, Blended Families, and the People that Support Us, by Michaele-Lynne Jacot

About the Author Michaele-Lynne Jacot was born in Saratoga Springs, NY, where she grew up with her parents and younger brother until she graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 2005.  Not very athletic, she played the French horn in band from 5th grade until senior year (and still does!). She enjoyed art and music classes, and spending time with one or two best friends.   From 2005-2009 she lived in Potsdam, NY while she attended Clarkson University for her Bachelors of Science in Psychology. Late in her career at Clarkson, Miss Jacot decided that she wanted to study Organizational Psychology and Group Dynamics.  She applied to the Industrial/Organizational Psychology Master's program at West Chester University of Pennsylvania and studied there from 2009-2011.    Upon graduation she found herself reconnected with a friend who had recently become single - as had she.  She hesitantly accepted a date to a concert in Philadelphia, where she lived at the time, knowing that she could easily fall for him - yet the situation was more than complicated.  After one year of long distance she moved back home to Saratoga Springs where she worked for about a year before deciding that she and her boyfriend were ready to live together in Rochester, NY where he resided with his two young daughters.  The first couple years of their relationship was very strained due to outside factors and influences beyond their control (if you've ever dated a man with children from a previous relationship you understand!).    Today Miss Jacot and her boyfriend of four years live in Rochester, NY where she works as a Human Resources professional. They live with his two daughters (7 and 9) with whom he has split custody and hope to be married in the not so distant future.   Miss Jacot enjoys arts and crafts, traveling, sampling different teas, dining out, craft beer, yoga, Zumba, golf, and watching hockey. Oh, and Stepmom gatherings!!

By Amazon Shopper At times sweet, at times funny and at times the frustration jumps off the page. The simple yet delightful water color artwork enhances the sentiments. This book would make a wonderful gift for a stepmom or a soon to be stepmom as well as the parent of one. My daughter is a "soon to be" and reading this book truly helped me to have a deeper understanding of the types of situations that she deals with.

It highlights the pain and joy of the people involved with stepfamilies. Confirms you are not alone in the countless lows of unforeseen situations stepmoms have to figure out and also there are some very sweet treasured moments beautifully captured. A great read, looking forward to more from Michaele Lynne.

Blended Reality is raw and emotional. As a Stepmom myself I could pretty much relate to every single poem in this collection. I laughed out loud and it also brought tears to my eyes. It made me realize how many sacrifices I've actually made as a Stepmom but also how much joy it has brought to my life. The paintings really bring it all together!

Ebook PDF The Leighton Explosion, by Anne Leighton

A lifetime of poetry. In 1986, after she got a job at big city rock magazine called, HIT PARADER, Anne Leighton sent her first works to Washington DC to get her first copyright notice. It was for a manuscript she christened THE LEIGHTON EXPLOSION. She couldn't find a publisher and continued to write poetry plus articles for rock magazines, She grew as a human being and artist. In addition to writing for national rock, cat, and fitness magazines including BILLBOARD, GOLDMINE, CREEM, CATFANCY, INSIDE KUNG FU/KARATE, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, she got involved with the music world as a music services person, generally handling publicity, management, consulting, and booking.

Anne's serviced many musicians, most significantly Grand Funk Railroad, Vonda Shepard, Blackmore's Night, Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius, Phoebe Legere, the Grand Slambovians, Jann Klose, and KJ Denhert, Elliott Murphy, and Jethro Tull/Martin Barre/Ian Anderson (who wrote the foreword to THE LEIGHTON EXPLOSION). She's won a number of writing awards and received honorable mention for 1993 BILLBOARD songwriting contest for the song "Carry Across" with Jessie Galante. She also hosted radio shows for 10 years on commercial and college radio in Western and Downstate New York.

When Anne appeared on the GRAMMY-nominated album, HEALTHY FOOD FOR THOUGHT: GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT, she met Canadian poetry publisher Ken Cowle, who took interest in her work. She said yes, and is finding acclaim from a number of friends.

"Anne Leighton is hilarious." -Bebe Buell, author of REBEL HEART, singer, animal lover"

"Whether musing about pets or past loves, the pleasure of her word-play is palpable." -Sander Roscoe Wolff, LBPost.com"

"You have an awesome book Anne, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and found myself, smiling often, and laughing out loud at times too, with your great sense of humor and wit." -Ken Cowle, Anne's publisher at Soul Asylum books"

Look for Anne sharing her poetry live through 2017 in New England, Washington, DC, Eastern Pennsylvania, Buffalo, Bronx and Manhattan. She would love to open for Courtney Barnett.

big

here I am sitting with the bums and pigeons at Herald Square. Some "businessman" drops his habitual DAILY NEWS in the garbage (it's 8:30 a.m.). A wiser businessman scoops the NEWS out of the can-there's waste in American industry. And I can see the top of The Empire State Building. I was just up there for a minute looking, and then I started crying, 'cause Manhattan's not that big. I could see cars and buses clearly in detail going up some avenue. I could see bridges and clouds and tree branches in Gramercy Park with the bums and pigeons. I could see the Statue of Liberty waving her torch at me, "Hey Annie, keep trying, keep trying. You ARE on top of your city."

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A cheerful explosion. With cats. By D. Jennings If you're looking for Profound And Serious Observations Of The Human Condition, this is not the book for you. Triumph Of The Human Spirit? Nope, not that either. No overcoming adversity against all odds, no plights of....well, no plights at all. The word "explosion" might lead you to think that this is a collection of stormy, incendiary poems, but this is not the case at all....inspired by the 60s band The Music Explosion, the title indicates passion and joy, rather than anger or controversy. The Leighton Explosion is a collection of often-whimsical ruminations, on subjects near and dear to the author, many and diverse, but familiar to anyone. Cats and dogs, rock and roll, stars in the sky and on the radio, childhood backyard campouts and people who really get on your nerves. I am pretty sure this is the only book ever published which mentions both Lou Reed's butt and Pope Gregory IX. Little bits of prose here and there allow you to get to know the author, and perhaps understand a little about why and how she chooses her subjects. She numbers among her dear ones many musicians and many cats--- and you MIGHT be able to figure out which one she means when she describes a preening and capricious creature who jumps around on her furniture.Leighton says "with the knowledge of language comes the realization of how cool it is to play with words." And that she does. Juxtaposing "thee" and "thou", "dost yearn" and "suppeth" with "BFF" and Hostess HoHos in the same short poem? Absolutely! Why has nobody done it before? One caveat: does contain some mature subject matter and language....not suitable for the under-18 crowd.
