The Palm Tree is rooted so deeply into the Earth's soil, that it can withstand multiple storms from Mother Nature, without uprooting. These magnificent trees may bend, sway, or lean far left or right, but will simply not break. Journey, a young man from the City of Baltimore, personified the strength of a Palm Tree as he faced many trials and tribulations throughout his life. Over time, it was Journey's persistent Love and Faith in God that enabled him to weather the storm.

Combining classic rhyme schemes with nuances of dark yet clever, nostalgic, and sometimes ironic poetry, Ryan Griffin masterfully weaves tales of childhood wonder, lost love, and the things that go bump in the night! Not since Edgar Allan Poe has an author captured the mystery and macabre that lies so deep within all of us. Poem themes include: murder, mayhem, suicide, solitude, zombies & more! Read a sample below.Autumn ShadowsCandles flicker in the growing coldStreets are barren, growing old.An eerie chime sounds from a bell,All alone, where the shadows swell. The brilliant moon sits in the sky,As luminescent clouds float by.Dark specters escape from their hell,All alone, where the shadows swell.Deafening silence engulfs the town,As falling leaves entrench the ground. The wind then howls a fond farewell,All alone, where the shadows swell.Along the path, creeping, crawling,Unseen, silent, and slowly falling. All alone, there I dwell,All alone, where the shadows swell.

Autumn Shadows: And Other Poems, by Ryan Griffin

Review "Many writers strive to approach the reader from a feeling of familiarity, a sameness from which others can relate. Those who write from darkness heed no such borders, instead venturing into the darkened woods, unlit hallways and abandoned structures others fear to explore. Autumn Shadows is such a journey, luring the reader along those foreboding paths between the comfortable safety of the sunshine and the ominous trail that beckons the reader who dares. Choose wisely." -Coffinnails Mike, Poet

About the Author Ryan lives in a small town in southern Pennsylvania. He enjoys reading, writing, astronomy, quantum physics, philosophy, cinema, graphic art, and web design. He wrote his first poem "Autumn Shadows" in 1999 and then started writing poetry again in 2006. This is his first published work.

In This is How You Know, Rachel Toalson turns ordinary moments into poetry. Her poems about children, friendship, love, anxiety, gender expectations, fear, struggle, hope, and so much more capture everyday life with humor, irony and all the seriousness that turns poetry into a window to the world. She gives her readers the gift of presence, and hopes, in her own words, that “we find ourselves in each other.” This is How You Know is an honest collection of poems that prove beauty can be found in the smallest pieces of life.

Industrial Oz: Ecopoems, by Scott T. Starbuck

Review "We've started to see poetry and music and art emerge that challenge this deepest question.  It's crucial because we don't just need the side of the human brain that understands pie charts and bar graphs engaged in this fight -- we need the whole brain and the whole heart.  Industrial Oz is a rousing, needling, haunting case in point."  -- Bill McKibben,  author of The End of Nature"Industrial Oz may just be the most cogent and sustained collection of quality eco-activist poetry ever written in this culture, this country." Thomas Rain Crowe, Publisher of New Native Press "'Are you really awake?' asks a bumper sticker in an early poem. After reading these poems, you will be." Marybeth Holleman,  author of The Heart of the SoundAbout Starbuck's Ecopoetry:"Starbuck brings the personal and the political quickly together as in his short poem about the melting ice caps, entitled 'How It Is.' The poem begins: 'Sometimes you forget Greenland exists/ like two pages stuck together in a novel . . . . Then it melts and Holland disappears.'" - Bryan R. Monte, Amsterdam Quarterly"Kairos ,  sudden insight,  grabs reader and writer . . . . It gifts poet Scott Starbuck with lightning-quick vision." Sandra Alcosser, author of Except by Nature and A Fish to Feed All Hunger

About the Author Scott T. Starbuck was a Friends of William Stafford Scholar at the "Speak Truth to Power" Fellowship of Reconciliation Seabeck Conference in 2014, a 2013 Artsmith Fellow on Orcas Island, and writer-in-residence at the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology. His poetry focuses on the clash between ancient sustaining forces like wild salmon rivers and modern industry and industrial livelihood. He currently lives in Portland, Oregon, and San Diego, where he teaches creative writing, world literature, and English. He hikes Oregon and Washington coasts documenting pristine aspects of wilderness as well as our culture’s desecration of ecological communities. 30% of the author's royalty will be donated to 350.org.

Beautifully crafted poems of joy and care By Philip Straffin These beautifully crafted poems talk about the insights, and the joy, we can find in the outdoors, in the play of light, in music, in a new puppy, in working with people trying to keep dignity in the institutional setting of an assisted living facility. The poet's voice can vary from deep and warm to light and funny, but there is always careful attention to language and rhythm, and always sympathy for the human condition. I read the poems slowly, with great pleasure, and gratitude.

This is what it means to be great--to speak what feels unspeakable and have it release what waits in us all." Lost in Time, by Roy Jenner

Review John in Spain (Avid reader)This novel introduces a new concept of travelling in time, backwards and forwards in a 300 year window through to the conflicts of a War in it's darkest moments, or to rural life in England at the beginnings of the 18th century, and up to the present day, that creates a necessity to carry on reading, it is also a perfect novel for the person who has a high level of concentration that permits them to almost live within the story. This is my way of saying this novel is a must.....!!?    Now awarded quarter finalist in Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards. Editorial Reviews    Amazon.com Review "The writer has good story telling skills and I actually did not skip the car sections. Pace is easy, important backfill information is in the correct place, not crammed into the first page. Hospital information is minimized.( Americans would have beat that section to death with details)" -Vine Reviewer "Going from the pitch and the overall broad strokes offered by the excerpt, this is certainly an original idea and there's some imaginative approaches going on for sure. It's an intriguing opening scene, and it does a good job of introducing the characters - I'm not certain who the 'main' character is; the pitch is focusing on Robert, while the intro focuses on Philip. That's fine anyway - I don't need to know the "primary" character, and it's good to keep the reader guessing on what the ultimate direction will be. The dynamic between the two of them works well, and you do effectively generate some suspense with the 'deja vu' references." -Vine Reviewer

From the Author I grew up on this farm and after a lifetime the places and images are still clear in my mind.  In these pages I have endeavoured to paint scenes in the reader's mind of a slower life as it was then, but one filled with magic. 'Lost In Time' may tangle your thinking, but take the time to read, relax and escape from reality. A pinch of salt is needed on time travel; try it without the salt. Sue Hyde UKOn the Lips of a Lion was a great read and I look forward to hearing all about your new eBooks.SueJohn Riggott SpainI believe that On the Lip of a Lion is one of the most enthralling novels that I have read in recent times, however I like all the novels that this Author has written up to the moment, the first I read was The Bringing Down of the Hawk. Peace Disclaimer: I was given a copy of this novel by the publisher in return for an honest review.Lost in Time is the fascinating story of retired New Zealand detective Phillip Maynard’s search for Bob Gardener, a World War ll Spitfire pilot supposedly lost when his Spit ditched in the sea. Only Bob’s son Robert and his mother Andrea don’t believe Bob died that day. They believe he’s only lost somewhere, waiting for someone to find him. When young Robert fortuitously saves the life of Phillip Maynard, he finds the man who can help him locate his dad and bring him home. This novel is full of twists and turns. It recounts the adventures of several characters through various timelines – the 18th Century, the 20th, and the 21st. The reader is transported along with our time voyagers to Trillinghurst Farm in its various incarnations through time as Maynard searches for his quarry. The Spitfire becomes a focal point, but will Bob Gardener wish to return to his wife and young son in 1941?I really enjoyed the story and have read other works by this author, who has a knack of creating vivid images of times gone by. I wanted to give this book the 5 stars the story deserves but I’m afraid the editing lets it down a little. There were typos and errors which the copy editor should have caught, and in my opinion, the writing itself could have done with tightening. But please don’t let that put you off buying the book. It’s a great read and deserves a wide audience. Recommended for anyone who likes adventure, mystery, gentle romance and time travel.

I thoroughly enjoyed this engrossing read that took me on a wonderful journey both through time and across the globe. Excellent.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A strange but eerily satisfying book. By Shirley Schwartz I received this book as an early review copy. It's difficult to categorize this book. Is it historical, supernatural, a love story or a study of humanity? Philip Maynard is the main character and we see him at first relocated from New Zealand to England after the death of his wife. He is a retired police inspector and he has returned to the town in England where he grew up in order to try to rediscover his roots. He meets a strange young man in a very classic car as he crashes into a hedgerow near his rented home. This starts him on a journey that covers 200 years. Philip finds that he isn't the only one who is journeying through time while on his very strange and liberating travels. He meets a young RAF air force pilot from the second world war, an English lord in the 18th century and two remarkable women to name a few. I found the book a bit difficult to follow as it jumped from time frame to time frame and from character to character, but in the end, when I finished, I felt strangely satisfied. I think Mr. Jenner accomplished what he set out to do with this book - at least with me anyway. I would recommend this book to those who like flights of fancy in their reading life. The strong characters help to elevate the book from the supernatural to the real and human.
